First of let me say thanks to you for your participation in this research. I am Olafur Omarsson, a researcher at Mads Clausen Institude in Denmark. This research is part of a study aiming to find out design opportunities for products that can aid or help people who suffer from social anxiety disorder (SAD). The research is also part of a master thesis in IT Product Design at the University of Southern Denmark.
The first part of this research will be an online interview, where I will ask you a series of questions that you can respond to by typing your answer. This will not be live interviewing sessions, rather you will able to respond to the questions in your own time and convenience. I may follow up on your answer by asking you specific question relative to an answer, where you can type in a response to that follow up question in a familiar blog-like procedure.
I have a deep personal interest in this research topic as I have had SAD all my life. Studying IT product design and learning user-centered design methods (UCD), I have discovered an opportunity to do this research in a manner that could be of real use for people suffering from SAD. By optimizing traditional UCD method to fit a research of social anxiety we have a real chance of meeting the needs and criteria that people with SAD would want in an product aimed specifically for them.
Personal information will not be released or viewed by anyone other than the researchers involved in this project. Results of this study will not include your name or any other identifying characteristics.
